Our Philosophy
Within in every child, every family and in every culture the experience of childhood is a unique journey. We commit ourselves to this adventure by responding to the children’s needs and creating an environment which promotes a sense of Belonging, Being and Becoming and facilitating a program that focuses on the 5 Learning Outcomes.
- Identity – Children have a strong sense of identity.
- Community – Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Wellbeing – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
- Learning – Children are confident and involved learners.
- Communication – Children are effective communicators.
We believe that exploration awakens the children’s learning, interests and imagination, creating sense of self-worth to move through life and its challenges.
Our service practices underpin the guiding principles of the National Quality Framework.
These principles are:
- The rights and best interests of the child are paramount.
- Children are successful, competent and capable learners.
- Equity, inclusion and diversity underpin the framework.
- Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are valued.
- The role of parents and families is respected and supported.
- Best practice is expected in the provision of education and care services.
We aim to do this by providing:
- An environment that is embracing of differences within children and families and complementary of each child’s home environment.
- An environment, in which we resist stereotypes, reflect diversity, confront discrimination and bias, advocate acceptance and honour difference.
- An environment where all children are equal and are supported within their surroundings.
- A play based educational program throughout the service that will enable the children to become successful learners. We will provide open-ended experiences which will allow the children to be in control of their own creative expressions and therefore allowing the children interests to guide the program.
- Learning and educational experiences which challenge and promote independence and recognise the needs of individuals and the group as a whole.
- A program that is flexible, challenging and responsive to the changing needs of the children and their families.
- A program that is balanced with fine and gross motor experiences, solitary, small and large group play and opportunities to explore, test, question and reason.
- An environment that fosters the development of every childs’ self-esteem and pride in their cultural heritage.
- Positive guidance techniques such as anticipation, redirection, positive feedback and encouragement.
- Multiculturalism as an awareness not a process, showing respect and support of all cultures. Our program will incorporate expressions from varied cultures on a regular basis.
- Ongoing communication with parents and families as part of planning and developing the services.
- Support to all families.
- A program that seeks to demonstrate and encourage in children a respect for our environment through the careful use of materials, the minimisation of waste and strategies to raise environmental awareness and sustainability.
- An environment that highlights our responsibility for a sustainable future and promote children’s understanding about their responsibility to care for the environment.
- Opportunities for Nutrition to form part of our curriculum. The children to be exposed to many and varied nutritionally balanced meals. We understand that a balanced diet contributes to the child’s wellbeing. Our meals are carefully planned according to the National Dietary Requirements.
- Constant training and encouragement to staff that enables them to develop their personal and professional skills further.
- Acknowledging, respecting, valuing and actively utilizing individual team member’s skills.
